The project administered the Reward & Reminder (R&R) program of the Reducing Youth Access to Alcohol project. The R&R program reinforces clerks who do not sell alcohol to minors by having 21- year-olds who look younger visit outlets in a community and attempt to purchase beer. The confederates handed clerks who sold alcohol to them a reminder of the Oregon law—confederates handed clerks who declined their purchase attempts an envelope containing a gift certificate worth $5-$10 and an invitation to pose for pictures that could be used in strategic media advocacy.
